Living Space UK Ltd FAQ
What colour polycarbonate can I have?
There is a choice of Clear, Opal (translucent) or Bronze tinted polycarbonate on all our
Homestyle Multi Purpose Canopies, Weatherguard Cantilever Canopies and Contour Line Curved Roof Canopies. It is also possible to have solid glazing on our Contour Line Curved Roof Canopy Range which is available in a range of colours.
What colour framework can I have?
Our standard colours for our Homestyle Canopy range, Weatherguard Cantilever Canopy range and Contour Line Curved Roof Canopy range are white and brown. We are able to paint the frame a colour of your choice (most RAL colours are available) but there will be an additional charge for this service. All paint colours are powdercoated onto the aluminium framework giving a very long life expectancy with little maintenance. The GRP Cantilever Beams used in our Weatherguard Canopy range are white and brown but other colours may be available on request. Please contact the sales office for further information.
What size legs will come with my canopy?
All our Homestyle Canopies are supplied with legs which are 2145mm in length. This is for surface mounting of the legs. We do offer a leg upgrade and there are two other le sizes available. These are 2444mm and 3060mm. These longer legs are suitable for fixing into a pre dug holes and where a bigger height is required. The Contour Line Curved Roof Canopy is supplied with 3000mmm legs as standard. The specification of these legs is much higher as the frame is free standing. The legs on the Contour Line Curved Roof Canopy must be attached to concrete pads located at least 300mm below surface level.
What is the overall projection?
Detailed dimensions of all canopies are available on the Technical Page.
Are the fixings included?
With the Weatherguard Cantilever Canopy panel fixings are included as the fixings for the Wall Plate End Caps, Eaves Beam end caps, and Panel End caps. Please note wall fixings for the beams are not included as the type of fixing to be used is dependent upon the type and condition of the wall the canopy is being fitted to. With the Homestyle Multi Purpose Canopy all fixings are included with the exception of the Wall Plate fixings, and gutter kit fixings. The Contour Line comes with all fixings with the exception of the fixings required to attaché the gutter kit.
Is the guttering included?
Yes, a gutter kit is included as part of the kit with all Homestyle Multi Purpose Canopies, Weatherguard Cantilever Canopies and Contour Line Curved Roof Canopies, .
Can the projection & length be cut down?
With the Homestyle Multi Purpose Canopies both the projection and the length of the canopy can be altered on site. The canopy rafters will need to be pulled off the polycarbonate sheet and then the sheet and / or bars cut down to the required size. Once altered the rafters should be pushed back onto the polycarbonate and then the canopy installed as normal. Please note the positions of the legs and eaves beams will have to be altered if the projection is changed.
With the Weatherguard Cantilever Canopy only the length can be altered, it is not possible to change the projection of the canopy. The GRP Cantilever beam must under no circumstances be modified in any way. Cutting the cantilever beam will severely weaken it and will make the roof unstable and dangerous.
The projection and length of the Contour Curved Roof Canopy can be amended but it is better to request this is done in our factory before the canopy is delivered rather than doing it on site. There may be a charge for any modifications made to the standard sizes.
Can I join two canopies together?
The Weatherguard Cantilever Canopy, the Homestyle Multi Purpose Canopy and the Curved Roof Canopy are all modular systems which can be extended to any length required. For the purpose of simplicity we only show a number of sizes but can provide you with a quotation for any length you require. Where extra eaves beams of legs are required we will provide you with eaves beam joining pieces. The wall plate can be added to by simply butting the new one up against the old one.
What size is the guttering?
The rainwater system used in the Weatherguard Cantilever Canopy, the Homestyle Multi Purpose Canopy and the Contour Curved Roof Canopy is a Squareline Profile with a external gutter width of 108mm. The gutter kit is supplied in either white or brown.
What pitch can the canopy roof be set at?
The Homestyle Multi Purpose Canopy should be fitted with a minimum pitch of 10º. A lower pitch is not recommended as this can affect the ability of the water to drain off the roof. The pitch on the Weatherguard Cantilever Canopy is predetermined by the shape of the GRP beam as is set at 10º. The radius on the Contour Curved Roof Canopy is predetermined in the factory and varies depending upon the projection of the canopy.
What thickness polycarbonate is supplied?
The thickness of polycarbonate sheeting supplied with the canopy depends upon the type and the projection:
Homestyle Multi Purpose Canopies with a projection of up to and including 3m are glazed with 10mm polycarbonate sheet
Homestyle Canopies with a projection of 3.5m and 4.0m are glazed with 16mm polycarbonate sheeting.
All Weatherguard Cantilever Canopies, are glazed with 16mm polycarbonate sheeting.
Contour Curved Roof Canopies are normally glazed with 10mm Polycarbonate sheeting however other types and thicknesses of glazing can be used.
Is the projection including the gutter?
Please visit the Technical Pages for detailed measurements.
Can I install a cantilever canopy on a bungalow?
As a general rule of thumb you need at least 5 bricks above the tome of the canopy in order for their to be sufficient downward pressure on the canopy to prevent it coming off the wall. Where a Weatherguard Cantilever Canopy is to be installed on the gable end of a bungalow the number of bricks above the ends of the canopy can be reduced so long as there is sufficient weight of wall holding down the middle of the canopy. Call the sales office for more details.
What fixings are used to attach canopy to wall as we do not supply these?
The type of fixings needed depend upon the type and condition of wall the canopy is being attached to. We recommend a size of fixing - M12 but would cannot specify the type of fixing without inspecting the wall. Contact a local builder for advise if you are unsure.
Can our system support glass instead of polycarbonate?
Our Canopy systems are not tested for use with glass and we would not recommend using glass as a replacement for the polycarbonate sheeting used.
