Do we have to make any arrangements to ensure the safety of the children and staff?
Not at all. Living Space approved fitters will liaise with the site agent for a full risk assessment, and we will cordon off the affected areas. We will provide Method Statements, Risk Assessments and will work and adapt our installation to meet any site specific requirements or any particular requirements you have.
Do you have a guarantee?
We offer a 10 year guarantee on our school canopies. Our range of canopies have been designed under strict guidelines and assessed for quality by structural engineers to ensure strength, safety and long life. The frames are aluminium and powder coated, making them virtually maintenance free, they won’t rust, and they won’t need re-painting.
Does the quote include everything?
There are absolutely no hidden charges. When we do a survey, we take any potential problems into account and the price you are quoted is the price you will pay. We believe in being up front and open about our pricing policy and there will never be any nasty surprises. The only occasion that there would be any price difference will be if our customer requires a change to the overall dimensions of the canopy. Should this happen, the quote will be rewritten and agreed before any work is carried out.
Will our canopy require planning permission?
There are no hard and fast rules regarding planning permission, and each authority has different guidelines. It is always advisable to seek information from your local authority. Generally, if the school canopy is less than 35 square metres, you won’t need permission. However, this may change in situations where the building is listed, the canopy is in close proximity to neighbours or overlooked or if the school falls within a conservation area. Should you find you do need planning, we would be happy to provide you with whatever information you need and will help you submit your application.
Our building is listed. Can we still have a canopy?
Our school canopies can be adapted to suit most environments. For example, we can powder-coat the structure to a colour in keeping with the building and our system is suitable for glass if required. Our canopies can also be made free standing where there is a restriction with regard to attaching to your existing building.
Can your school canopies be used all year round?
Absolutely. Our school canopies provide vital protection from the sun in the summer, keep you dry when it rains and have a snow load rating specific to your site. We offer a range of free standing canopies, and as such they can be installed anywhere, so are ideal for spectator stands on the school sports field, parent waiting areas, walkways and entrances. We can also provide Cladding to one or more sides for greater protection from the elements or supply Shutters for a more secure option allowing you to store materials overnight under the canopy.
Is there a choice of colours?
Our canopies are powder coated for a long lasting, low maintenance, flawless finish. As standard, our school canopies are supplied in white, but we have a huge range of RAL colours, and can match almost any shade to match your school colour or any other colour you choose.
Is safety a consideration to Living Space?
Safety is the most important consideration to us when it comes to school canopies from design to after the canopy has been installed. We hold Certificates of Accreditation with CHAS and Acclaim and are also members of Constructionline. Our Quality Management System is certified to ISO 9001. Our polycarbonate roofs are co extruded with a UV filter to protect the children and staff from the harmful UV rays. Polycarbonate is also shatterproof providing a high level of impact protection. We also offer a choice of extras to complement our school canopies, including post protector pads in a range of colours and fence surrounds to name a few.
Do Living Space canopies block out the light?
One of the best things about a polycarbonate roof is that they let in high levels of natural light. What’s more, the polycarbonate we use for our school canopies is manufactured with a UV inhibitor built into the sheet which means longer life and prevention of yellowing and loss of strength. It also offers screening for the children from the effects of harmful UV rays
With three colours to choose from, being clear, opal and bronze, you can choose the level of natural light you want to shine through or the level of shade you would like to achieve.
